  • A painted frieze runs around the upper portion of the wall of the second floor hall which surrounds the open atrium in the Old Erie Library.  The decorative design of the frieze is floral/vine with periodic emblazoned names of authors.  The baseline of the frieze is 161 inches from the floor.  The height of the painted frieze is 48 inches.  Total length of the fireze is approximately 160 feet.  Various authors are listed, including Irving, Lowell, Dante, Scott, Burns, Emerson, Hugo, and Milton.
