- The iconography of the wing is rich both in classical architecture and United States historical symbolism. Each wing is composed of hand fabricated, richly textured copper feathers designed to float in front of the upper walls flanking the entrance to the
courthouse. The intention of the sculpture is to evoke a sense of inspiration, pride and dignity. On one level "Wings" refers to the eagle as our nation's symbol of freedom, and on another level symbolizes the apex to be reached by adhering to the Constitution of the United States of America. "Wings" represent, more than anything, the uplifting effect that the highest ideals have on our society and the individual - the ideals upon which our court system is founded.
