  • "Sky Cathedral" is a monumental sculpture installed in the entry plaza of the new U.S. Courthouse. The 15'4" high brushed aluminum sculpture is set into the curved wall of the entry plaza on axis with the main entrance to the building. The piece is composed of a triangular juxtaposition of two spiral rectangles creating an open feeling that faces the entrance to the building. The spiral is the basic form of nature, and of architecture, and invites the viewer to interact with the sculpture. The sculpture creates a transition between the monumental scale of the building to the human scale of the plaza. The stepped and repetitive nature of the artwork pulls and transcends space to a higher level. The viewer is drawn up to the sky and beyond, up to our highest ideals of law and government.
