  • Shelton's mural employs symbols and images to create a map of where one can locate different species of birds across the United States. The acrylic painting can be appreciated both as a visual whole and for the individual rectangles of its grid-like formation, where each bird receives its own amount of pictorial space.  Arrows along the frame correspond with certain bird images and explain whether the bird is a resident or migrator during particular seasons.
