  • Raymond Saunders constructed this dynamic collage from ephemeral materials that he gathered from around San Francisco. The title of the artwork is a play on the words "sign" and "sing."

Street Singing addresses the relentless cycle of consumption and disposal characteristic of modern life, the personal histories associated with each item that Saunders used (such as the "For Sale" sign), and the various communities that constitute a city.
