  • The mural is a map of the United States with the banner inscription Justice is the Guarantee of Liberty.  The names of Justices Cushing, Story, Curtis, Gray, Holmes, Moody, Brandeis, and Frankfurter are inscribed on a banner at the lower edge.  Several commonalities link the justices: many were born in Massachusetts and attended Harvard University; all were Supreme Court justices.  The thread that appears to tie each of them to the mural’s theme is that each was famous for a cause or case related to social justice.
