  • Author and poet Rita Dove composed inscriptions for the twelve marble chairs that are part of artist Larry Kirkland’s sculpture The Decisions. The poetry and sculpture both address themes of justice: the sculpture portrays a monumental Scales of Justice suspended above the twelve chairs of a jury, while Dove’s poetic inscriptions examine the relationships among people in society.
