  • Working as Lead Pencil Studio, artists Annie Han and Daniel Mihalyo create sculptures and installations at architectural scale. Often drawing inspiration from the history and context of a given site, they create projects that explore conditions unique to each location.

Non-Sign II makes reference to major features of the local landscape, such as the ubiquity of signage along interstate highways, the aperture quality of the nearby Peace Arch Monument, and the picturesque landscape of Semiahmoo Bay.

Measuring 25 feet tall, 35 feet wide, and 3 feet deep, the artwork is the same size as billboards found throughout the area. However, rather than competing with the landscape for attention, Non-Sign II provides an ethereal framework through which viewers may appreciate the expansive beauty of the local environment.
