  • Caleb O’Connor’s paintings for the U.S. Courthouse depict historical scenes of local significance, from the Mississippian settlement in Moundville, Alabama, to the devastating tornado that changed the landscape of Tuscaloosa in 2011. The 16 individual paintings are connected visually through relationships of color and geometry. O'Connor worked with the history department of the University of Alabama to develop the subjects and themes for his paintings, which run in chronological order as installed in the courthouse's second-floor atrium.
