  • In Northern Iowa, US Highway 9 provides spectacular distant vistas of the Iowa agricultural landscape from either side. While the contours of the land there are a bit more exaggerated compared to that around Cedar Rapids, the painting represents the spacious and rolling character of the lush Iowa landscape of mid to late summer when the corn has tasseled, the beans have set pods and the hay has been cut a second time. This beautiful land and the bounty it provides through the skill of farmers that tend it are the heart of Midwestern economy and values.
