  • These paintings, called "A History of Industry in Marion County", were executed by Prof. Hollis Holbrook of the University of Florida Art Department.  They were painted to express aesthetically the history of industry in and about Ocala.  Rather than a literal interpretation, the artist has attempted to symbolize the subject which was suggested by the Ocala Mural Committee.  Mr. Holbrook did much research throughout the county and is greatly indebted to many people for their generous assistance.
