  • Esther Barney (1885-1969) was born in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She studied with Armin Hansen in Monterey, California and with Robert Henri in New York.  She was a member of the San Diego Artists Guild and exhibited at the California Pacific International Exposition.  This painting was created under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration.
