  • Left side of the work depicts two groups of people: in foreground is a woman (mother/teacher) sitting and reading to a boy, both stitting on wooden crates; behind them men are working in various professions; in background is a factory and on the far left, a barn.

Printed under all of this is "Uphold the Right".  The center section of the work depicts:  two tablets inscribed with Roman numerals (ten commandments) behind a pile of books and scales of Justice; upper portion contains a circle with a "strong arm", a sword, and "the hand of God".  Printed beneath this sections is "Justice Tempered by Mercy". The right side of the work depicts two groups of people:  in foreground is a woman comforting a child who appears to be crying in her lap; behind them are a masked man and two other "bad" figures; in the background are columns and other parts of buildings broken or fallen down.  "Prevent the Wrong" is printed beneath this.

One of the side panels features two hands shaking in friendship before a circle with light rays emanating from it while the other shows a clenched fist at left holds handle of knife, with knife pointing at open palmed hand, palm facing viewer. "Shards of glass" appear to fall between hands. The hands appear to have "broken the bond" of cooperation shown in the other panel. The side panels measure 46" x 42 1/2" each.
