  • In the foreground a farmer and his wife are gathering peaches (for which this area is known).  On the right is depicted the departure of the Ute Indians who are pressed onward by the early white settlers shown at the left of the mural.  The waterwheel is a symbol of the introduction of irrigration which brought richness to the land.  In the background are the mesas characteristic of western Colorado.
