Frederick Eversley

b. 1941, Brooklyn, New York
A former aerospace engineer, Frederick Eversley was the first artist-in-residence at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum from 1977–1980. Eversley has said that he believes in creating art that conveys universal meaning and is easy for viewers to relate to and appreciate. He has been inspired by, in his words, “energy in all its forms, as both a physical and metaphysical concept.” Eversley has rarely titled his artworks, in order to allow his viewers to create their own associations and meanings for his sculptures.
