This is the maquette for work installed in Federal Building, Kansas City, MO.
The artwork depicts a glass boat perched diagonally on rocks. Water splashes of clear, textured, pale blue and green glass wash off the boat and rocks. Their exposed edges are ground and dull to the touch. On two sides, gentle arcs of blue, night sky glass curve out from the sculpture framework and are angled to catch light. In the upper corner a pale, amber, silver moon casts amber reflections in the triangular waves of clear and blue textured glass. The steel structure is painted flat black and the boat is painted warm sienna brown.
Two types of glass are used: "Glacier" and "German New Antique" (GNA). Glacier is a clear, textured architectural glass, watery in appearance and casts watery reflections. The GNA colors, blue, amber, green, and brown are rich, soft hues with texture that animate with light.
