- Roger Brown designed this untitled glass mosaic for the lobby of the Ted Weiss Federal Building in Manhattan. Brown created art that is bold and graphic, and often includes contemporary cultural and political references. This mosaic for the federal building was inspired by the AIDS crisis in America and by the nearby African Burial Ground. Brown wrote: "On this ancient cemetery site below the modern skyline of New York City a contemporary tapestry of human faces, each made thin and hollow by the ravages of AIDS, descends like some medieval nightmare into a mosaic of death heads in memory of those of all races who have suffered and died too soon."
