  • This work is a single sculpture of white open cubes with three distinct sections.  The cubes form one by one, two by two, and three by three cubic sections, respectively, joined along their central axis.  LeWitt's work is highly conceptual and often considers issues of seriality, which aspects have sometimes been given too much weight by conservators with respect to the importance of the artist's own hand in the work.  This is to say, distinct works by LeWitt such as this one tend to be seen as more replaceable or replicable than is actually the case.  One, Two, Three has had specific conservation issues that relate to artist's responsibility and site-specificity.
