  • Having often driven by this panoramic site along the Potomac River near Berkeley Springs, Poffenbarger quickly realized it was the appropriate subject for this commission. For those familiar with West Virginia, the site is immediately recognizable; the beauty of the landscape is evident to anyone who sees the work. The artist has depicted the rolling countryside in the fall, when nature’s colors are most intense.
