  • The formal language of "Portal North" and "Portal South" responds to the architecture of the US Courthouse in Jacksonville, Florida.  Both paintings present woven chains of pale turquoise and black interlocking forms on vermilion grounds, which establish a dialogue of symmetry and hue between the pendants.  The repetition unifying "Portal North" with "Portal South" is complemented by variations in design and color arrangement that individualize the works. Rhythmic combinations of crisp curvilinear motifs harmonize the geometry of the foyer.
