- Represented by Palas Athene, Greek goddess of beauty and wisdom. Weighs 200 tons. The female figure of Greece wears a long flowing gown and holds her arms at her sides. The figure stands in a classic contrapposto pose, with her proper left leg slightly bent and forward of the proper right leg. In the crook of her proper right arm she holds a leafy vine. The proper left hand of Greece rests on the top edge of a shield which sits on the base at her proper left side. The name "F. Edwin Elwell S.C." is engraved on the proper left side of the base. The entire sculpture is carved from one section of Tennessee "marble" limestone. The alignment between the large carved stone section and the granite base is fairly regular around all sides
