  • This mural depicts the legendary Daniel Boone (1734-1820) and his companions surveying the rolling hills of Lexington. In 1775, Governor Dunmore of Virginia sent Boone and a band of Virginians to settle the area.  This scene shows Boone and his party of explorers after a month of passing through difficult mountains and blazing a trail through a strange country. After hunting their food, warily avoiding attacks, constantly facing unknown dangers, the band finally arrives in Kentucky.
