  • "Moonlight on the Great Pee Dee," the river, which flows from North Carolina to South Carolina passing through Florence, has played an important role in the region's history.  It carried the ships of early settlers, freighters importing and exporting goods and crops, and warships off to battle.  Sky has depicted the river at night:  a midnight blue sky with stars acts as the back for the crescent moon that illuminates the water and silhouettes the trees along the banks of the Great Pee Dee.
