- This triptych depicts the cultural history of the US Virgin Islands. It gives the impression of looking through large archways in a building of Danish-style architecture. The left section focuses on the island of St. Thomas, showing cruise ships, French immigrants, and the last-known person who spoke Dutch creole. St. Croix history, in the center section, ranges from Indians, to Columbus' men coming ashore, to the opening of the Hess oil refinery. In the right section, basket weavers and field workers reflect the history of the island of St. John.
