- "This Female figure is bare to the waist, wears a skirt, and is barefoot. Symbols of native crops (cotton, corn, tobacco) are carved from her right knee to her left thigh. her arms are extended; her right hand holds a cotton bale and her left hand a spinning wheel. Weeight rests on her left leg; her right leg acts as an elastic prop. Realistic treatment but not fussy. Subordination of detail and emphasis on planes."
