Model Lady
Fine Arts Collection
U.S. General Services Administration
The sculpture is located on the southwest planter area of the Federal Building in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The sculpture was commissioned under the General Services Administration's Art-in-Architecture Program and installed in 1981. The sculpture is situated on a circular planter with stone gravel ground covering, picnic tables and eucalyptus trees close by.
The sculpture can be described as geometric-shaped planes of weathering steel, which give the illusion of cut and folded planes in space. The artist describes his work as "geometric planes related to one another in an organic, flowing configuration". His intention is to convey a sense of gesture, and it give recognition to his wife, for whom the sculpture is dedicated.
