  • The title "Tlingit" is in homage to the native Tlingit Indians of Alaska.  The volumetric sculpture, consisting of four painted aluminum blocks set on two pillars is the central element of a fountain located in the atrium of the Federal Building and US Courthouse, Anchorage, Alaska.  The sculpture is optically deceiving from some vantage points because it looks like a flat, two-dimensional work, but as one moves around it, the four flat cubes assume greater and greater depth. Certain surfaces of the cubes have been painted as bold and colorful abstract expressionist paintings, which reflect the water below.
